To strengthen the implementation of international academic cooperation, the Faculty of Psychology at Riau Islamic University (UIR) held a strategic discussion with the Faculty of Arts and Science, Universiti Malaya–Wales (UM–Wales).
The discussion was attended by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, Cooperation, and Islamic Outreach of UIR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Deddy Purnomo Retno, S.T., M.T., GP.A-Utama, the Dean of the UIR Faculty of Psychology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sigit Nugroho, M.Psi., Psychologist, and the Head of the Psychology Study Program, Didik Widiantoro, S.Psi, M.Psi.
The meeting was warmly received by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Science, Prof. Dr. Mahadi J. Murat, and several lecturers. The discussion covered three main agendas, including the implementation of a Twinning Programme between the UIR Psychology Study Program and UM–Wales Psychology.
“In this agenda, both parties agreed on the necessity of a comprehensive curriculum review process from each institution to ensure the alignment of learning outcomes, credit equivalency, and synchronization of course structures. This review process is a crucial foundation before formulating student exchange mechanisms and the full implementation of the twinning program,” explained Didik Widiantoro, S.Psi, M.Psi when confirmed by the UIR Public Relations team.
The second agenda involved both parties discussing plans to organize an International Conference as a platform for scientific collaboration, research outcome exchange, and strengthening joint publications.
Thirdly, the discussion also addressed the agenda of Guest Lectures, involving UM–Wales lecturers as speakers to provide a global perspective to UIR Psychology students.
“This collaboration is expected to strengthen UIR’s academic network at the international level and make a significant contribution to enhancing the quality of learning, research, and competency development for the academic community in the field of psychology,” hoped Didik Widiantoro, S.Psi, M.Psi.
