Faculty of Psychology

The Faculty of Psychology was founded on the basis and principles of building a prosperous Riau society based on Islamic values and Malay culture.

Based on this, the Rector of UIR requested Mr. Tukiman Khateni, who was studying for his Masters degree in Psychology at Gadjah Mada University at the time, to form a team and create the necessary forms to establish the UIR Faculty of Psychology.

In 2002-2003, Mr. Tukiman Khateni and his team developed a form with the assistance of Mr. Fuad Nashori and Mr. Djamaludin Ancok for consultation.

In 2003 the form was submitted to DIKTI (Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology), then DIKTI returned the form with several notes that needed to be completed, so that finally on December 30 2004 the Decree on the establishment of a study program from DIKTI was issued. The first lecture at the UIR Faculty of Psychology commenced in August 2005 with 90 students.

All praise is due to Allah SWT, who has given us so many blessings that we cannot count them, and to the Prophet Muhammad SAW, who has set a perfect example of human life.

The Faculty of Psychology has faced obstacles and challenges throughout its journey. One of the biggest challenges encountered by the UIR Faculty of Psychology is achieving its vision and mission. The faculty aims to become a superior and leading education provider in the field of psychology based on Islamic values that uphold Indonesian culture.

With this vision in mind, the UIR psychology faculty is expected to embody the values and characteristics of psychology faculties in general, as well as those based on Islamic principles. As such, under the new management of the Faculty of Psychology, we are committed to establishing a faculty that reflects Sharia and Malay culture.
