Bandung, September 22, 2025 – Proud news emerges from the academic world. At the prestigious Bandung Essay Competition (BEC) 2, held on September 20-21, 2025, in Bandung City, Ranti, a student from the Faculty of Psychology class of 2022, successfully won a bronze medal. This achievement was made possible through the dedicated guidance and mentorship of her supervising lecturer, Dr. Leni Armayati, M.Si
The competition, which carried the theme “Innovation and Mental Well-being: Shaping a Sustainable Future for Urban Youth,” successfully attracted the attention of young thinkers from various leading universities across Indonesia. The theme was considered highly relevant to the challenges faced by the younger generation in the digital era, especially in metropolitan cities like Bandung.
A Fruitful Collaboration Between Student and Lecturer
Over the two days, participants not only underwent an essay presentation session before a panel of judges comprising renowned academics and practitioners but were also involved in a series of events, such as panel seminars and personal development workshops.
Ranti, who is currently in her sixth semester, expressed her gratitude for the support she received. “The journey to this competition was full of learning. I am immensely thankful to Dr. Leni Armayati, M.Si., who patiently guided me from the initial (conceptualization) and writing process to the presentation preparation,” explained Ranti. “The essay I submitted focused on digital detox strategies and the implementation of community-based mindfulness to reduce anxiety and burnout among university students in major cities.”
A Real-World Example of the Three Pillars of Higher Education
Ranti’s success is a clear reflection of the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi), specifically the pillars of education and research. The active role of Dr. Leni Armayati, M.Si as a supervising lecturer demonstrates the high dedication of educators in nurturing a competitive and excellent future generation.
“I am very proud of Ranti’s achievement. She is a critical student with a high learning spirit. Her essay is not only theoretically strong from a psychological perspective but also offers applicable and relevant solutions for today’s youth. This achievement proves that our students have the capability to compete at a national level,” stated Dr. Leni Armayati, M.Si
The organizers of BEC 2 stated that this competition is a platform to encourage students to be sensitive to social issues. Ranti’s bronze medal win is hoped to motivate other students, especially from younger cohorts, to start achieving accolades early. This accomplishment is not only a source of pride for the Faculty of Psychology but also an inspiration that solid collaboration between students and lecturers can produce remarkable work.
