The Faculty of Psychology at Riau Islamic University (UIR) once again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian service through the involvement of its Psychology students in a trauma healing mission for natural disaster victims in Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province.
This humanitarian activity was carried out from December 3 to 12, 2025, spearheaded by the Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau) in collaboration with HIMPSI Riau (Indonesian Psychological Association, Riau Branch), as a form of rapid response to assist in the psychological recovery of the affected community.
In this mission, several students from the UIR Psychology Study Program and students from other universities were assigned to provide psychological assistance, emotional support, and mental recovery activities for affected children, adolescents, and families. They have been equipped with the necessary knowledge and basic psychological intervention skills to ensure that services are delivered professionally and ethically.
The students assigned to this mission are: Nasya Atika, Alya Lestari, M. Anugra Haryanto, Ratu Amanda, Yaya Ulayya, Andisyia Putri, Dimas Aditya.
The involvement of these students is expected to provide real benefits to the community of Agam Regency, while also serving as a valuable field experience for the students in directly applying psychological knowledge. The faculty expresses its appreciation to Polda Riau and HIMPSI Riau for the trust given, and hopes that such collaborations can continue in other humanitarian missions.
