Pekanbaru, October 24, 2025 — The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), held a Farewell Intern Ceremony for Andrew Mulder, a student from Universiteit van Amsterdam, The Netherlands, who has successfully completed a three-month internship program at the Faculty of Psychology UIR.
The farewell event, held at the Faculty Auditorium, was attended by the Rector of Universitas Islam Riau, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Admiral, S.H., M.H., Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Dr. Sigit Nugroho, M.Psi., Psychologist, lecturers, and administrative staff.
Andrew’s internship was part of an ongoing international academic collaboration between UIR and the Universiteit van Amsterdam, aiming to strengthen cooperation in cross-cultural psychology, research development, and global education exchange.
During his three-month stay, Andrew actively participated in various academic and social activities, including laboratory observations, assisting in student practicums, and conducting a mini research project on multicultural learning dynamics. He also engaged with lecturers, staff, and students, enriching the faculty’s multicultural atmosphere.
In his remarks, Rector of UIR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Admiral, S.H., M.H, expressed his appreciation and pride for the success of this collaborative program.
“Andrew’s presence represents UIR’s growing reputation as a trusted international academic partner. We hope that this kind of program will continue to expand and bring mutual benefits in research, education, and student development,” said Prof. Syafrinaldi.
Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Dr. Sigit Nugroho, M.Psi., Psychologist, also conveyed his gratitude for Andrew’s dedication throughout the internship.
“We sincerely thank Andrew for his enthusiasm and contributions during his time at the Faculty of Psychology UIR. His presence has brought fresh perspectives to our academic activities and strengthened the spirit of cultural diversity within our faculty. We hope this marks the beginning of a broader collaboration in the future,” said Dr. Sigit.
Andrew expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the warm welcome he received from everyone at UIR.
“It has been an amazing experience to learn and work here. Everyone has been very kind and supportive. I’ve learned not only about psychology but also about Indonesian culture and hospitality,” he shared.
The farewell ceremony concluded warmly with the presentation of a souvenir from the faculty, followed by a group photo session with the Rector, Dean, and all faculty members.
This event reaffirms the Faculty of Psychology UIR’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and promoting cross-cultural knowledge exchange to advance psychology education toward global excellence.
